Payday Loan Budgeting
Budgeting Basics
A budget is simply a written plan for all of your money that is coming in versus your money that is going out. Budgeting should not be a casual or 'so so' matter or else it will not function properly or as intended. Knowing how much money you have and assigning every single dollar to a purpose and a plan is the best way to stay on top of your finances and even get ahead of the game.
Budgeting Needs
Setting up a budget means prioritizing as well. If you are in a situation where you are considering a payday loan, paying back that loan will also need to be a part of the budget process. The typical budget, whether you are single or part of a family will include:
- Housing Needs
- Bare Necessities
- Transportation
- Monthly Bills
- Electricity
- Water
- Gas
- Sewer/Trash/Disposal
- Cable/Internet
- Savings
- Debts
Most people need a place to stay, whether it is a rented room, shared dorm, house, or multi-million dollar mansion.
These include items such as food and toiletries that either you literally can't live without or without which, some people around you might wish you weren't living quite so close.
You have a job if you are considering a payday loan, and if you are considering one, you really should consider keeping that job. Paying for transportation, whether it be a car payment, gas and insurance for your vehicle or even tickets on public transportation are an essential part of your budget.
These are not debts so much as they are monthly obligations for basic living. Depending on your situation, you may have one or more of the following or none at all. If you have any, paying them regularly and on time should be near the top of your budgeting list:
This should actually be very much near the top of your budgeting list - paying yourself before you pay anyone else. A simple 10% of your gross income is a good starting point but if you are strapped for cash, consider starting small - extremely small if you need to, just to get into the habit. Even saving $1.00 per week is better than no savings at all and you can increase that amount over time as you get into the habit.
This is the part of your budget list that you want to try to get rid of over time, and now, in setting up your budget, you will want to include the payday loan in this category and plan for how you will repay it and any fees associate with it.
